Title examination is the process of analyzing any and all deeds, court decrees, wills, liens, mortgages and judgements relating to a property and its owner(s) to establish a chain of title and confirm that the seller in fact owns the property and that there are no defects with the owner's right to own and/or sell their property.

Settlement refers to the final stage of a property transaction where all financial, legal, and contractual obligations are fulfilled. It involves the transfer of ownership, payment of closing costs, and the completion of all final paperwork to transfer ownership of a property.

James Blackwell, President/CEO
James Blackwell grew up locally, graduating from DeMatha Catholic High School before earning his B.S. in Accounting from the University of Maryland's Robert H Smith School of Business.
James has been in the Real Estate Industry for over 20 years, and brings a breadth of knowledge to the Ally Title Management Team that includes over 16 years of experience in various managerial roles within the Real Estate Industry, as well as the oversight of more than 1,000 transactions as either an agent, team leader or broker.
James is also the Broker/Owner of Ally Title's sister company; Blackwell Real Estate, a full service Real Estate Brokerage serving clients in Maryland, Virginia, DC and Delaware.
Jennifer Lader, Licensed Settlement Officer
Jennifer Lader earned her title producer’s license in 2004, and became the office manager of a busy title company in Anne Arundel County shortly thereafter. She and her husband opened their own title company, Pride Title and Escrow in 2006 and successfully ran that business for nine years before deciding to merge their business with Title Rite Services of Odenton in 2015.
With almost 20 years of experience in the title industry, Jen provides Ally Title and our clients an exceptional level of industry knowledge as she oversees and manages the processing of files and performs settlements.
Abby Dougherty, Post Closing
Abby Dougherty has been in the title industry since 1995, and has been a Licensed Title Producer since 1998. Abby has experience in all aspects of the industry. She regularly attends continuing education classes and seminars keeping her informed of the changes that are constantly occurring in our industry..
While her focus is now in Escrow, Post-Closing and Final Title Policies, she’s more than happy to assist our clients in any of their title needs. She strives for attention to detail and excellent customer service and believes nothing is more satisfying than a happy client.
